Marbles Mocha

August 16, 2018

Coffee Theorem is promoting a Marbles Mocha to help support awareness of Marbles, a puppy with Parvo, and all the pet owners who have insufficient funds to save their furry friends. The proceeds from all Marbles Mochas will be donated to The GoFundMe Campaign. (https://www.gofundme.com/sick-puppy-medical-expenses)

Here's what Marbles' owner has to say and what thier doing to help Marbles:

"On 8/6/18 Marbles was quarantined in the ICU at VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital. She was diagnosed with Parvo. The vets believe she contracted Parvo during her stay with her breeder. ... Marble’s will receive the care she needs. Both my girlfriend and I are now $3,833.00 in debt - credit cards - for her care. That was as-of 8/10. She is projected to stay until at least 8/13. Taking the average daily cost, this means we are looking at approximately $5,800.00 for our baby girl. That’s on top of the money we spent to purchase her ($500.00) and the expense of driving to Texas and my travel to and from Denver in a rental car (my car was annihilated in the Colorado Springs hail storms). When it rains… it hails. But who cares, I’m not letting bullshit and bureaucracy end my puppy’s life. If, though, we can save Marbles without crushing debt, that would be wonderful. So, here’s the plan. I’m asking for help Crowd-Funding Marbles’ recovery. I am asking the breeder to pay for all medical expenses. I am filing complaints with every acronym I can think of to ensure these breeders are never responsible for another animal’s life. Let’s assume the best. The Go Fund Me Campaign (GFMC) hits its goal AND the breeder pays for all medical expenses. If this happens, I am setting up this GFMC to donate to the East Alameda Vet Hospital. This is in an effort to help those less fortunate than myself pay for their animal’s medical expenses. Let’s assume this GFMC works but the breeder doesn’t reimburse me. I will be taking her to small claims court. If the money is ever recouped, we will donate it to East Alameda. Either case, I’m now inspired to do something about this on a larger scale. I’m done being a sidelined-angel. I am going to continue Crowd-Funding to help people pay for their animal’s medical bills. I am sick and tired of seeing sick and tired animals dying in their owners’ arms. I don’t want owners to worry if they made the right choice, if, financially, they can afford a $6,000.00 medical bill for an animal. These breeders broke my girlfriends’ heart and hurt an animal that I love – the closest thing I’ve ever had to a child. For all the people without the resources to right the wrongs of the world, I’m on a warpath. Ability to pay for medical care shouldn’t dictate the level of medical care provided. But it does. If we take ownership of another life, a puppy, then it’s unethical for us not to do everything we can to provide the best life possible for that puppy. Financial affluence shouldn’t bar people from doing what they believe is ethical. Financial greed shouldn’t allow breeders to profit from inhumane practices. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post. I’ve yet to break down and cry during this situation, but when thinking about the amount of people out there who are willing to help our puppy… well. I’ll be a big sobbing mess, for sure."
